Update:Valley Regional Fire Company

Butler Township Meeting May 30th

The process of bringing the Valley Regional Fire and Rescue Company out
of debt is moving forward…
Butler Township Supervisors voted Tuesday night to go ahead with
borrowing 550 thousand dollars to take care of unpaid bills and
outstanding debt which totals about 525 thousand dollars for the fire
company. In order for the company to get the money they needed to
basically save the department, Supervisors asked all current elected
officials and Board members to resign, which was agreed to. A three
member board made up of Supervisor Chair Brian Kisenwether, Taxpayer and
Resident Dr. Victor Greco and current Fire Company Vice President Jim
Walck will now put together an interim board for the company which will
serve through December. That board will consist of five to seven
members. The 550 thousand dollars going to the company will not impact
tax payers in anyway, but does allow the Supervisors more control of
fire company spending to ensure a situation like this never happens
again in the future. Kisenwether, Walck and Greco will meet Friday
morning to get the interim board in place as soon as possible and there
are already about 15 people on a list who want to be part of the board.
