Time to Wear Sunscreen
When we think of sunscreen, many think of laying on the beach or by the
pool putting it on under the hot sun….but the truth is sunscreen
should be worn everyday! Considering people of ALL skin colors can get
skin cancer, that little bottle may be more important than you think.
The sun emits harmful UV rays everyday…ALL YEAR LONG….so, even on
cloudy days, harmful UV rays can penetrate your skin. In fact, on a
cloudy day, up to 80 percent of the sun’s UV rays can pass through the
clouds! And even more shocking….snow and sand increase the need for
sunscreen! And if you don’t believe me….let the expert tell you! Dr.
Stephen Schleicher tells News 13 that people with fair skin and light
eyes should be extra concerned, but everyone should wear sunscreen and
those who have Skin Cancer in their family should be extra cautious. Dr.
Schleicher also tells us, the higher the number on your SPF…the higher
amount of protection you’ll get…and the price may also increase…but
if you are at risk…the higher, the better!! So even though you may not
be laying on a beach chair anytime soon…protect the skin you’re in today!
