Second Term for Representative Toohil
Hazleton- State Representative Tarah Toohil returns to Harrisburg for a second term. After a heated campaign against Democrat Ransom Young, voters swept Toohil back into to office by a wide margin. Incumbent Tarah Toohil was all smiles, surrounded by enthusiastic supporters, as they celebrated her re-election at the Hazleton Elks Lodge on Tuesday night. Voters in the 116th district overwhelmingly re-elected her as their representative in Harrisburg over Democratic chalenger, Ransom Young.
“I’m so proud to fight for this community. It’s our home. Fight for the children in this community. It’s just a great honor. I won’t take it for granted, not one day,” said Toohil Tuesday night.
The good news spread quickly to supporters who said they are very pleased with her re-election. West Hazleton Mayor, Frank Schmidt said he’s happy to see Toohil rise above negative campaign attempts from her democratic opponent Young.
“People were disgusted by all those television ads.They know she is a good person. She does a lot of good around the area,” said Mayor Schmidt.
Toohil said she will use her second term to bring life to the downtown area, and officials are ready to work with her.
“The city can always use her help. We’re going to count on her again,” said Jim Perry the president of city council.
Toohil sayid she is looking forward to representing the area for another two years and hopes to make a postive change for Hazleton.
“Bringing better jobs to the Hazleton area and trying to keep it where we’re still not over taxing people. Not living beyond our means. There is a lot of good that we can do, and I will be so proud to do it for them,” said Toohil.
