One Man Injured in Truck Crash

Truck Crash

One man was injured in a frightening truck crash on Route 309 on Friday. Crews on the scene said this tractor trailer was traveling along the highway in Rush Township, when for some reason it went off the road, and tumbled down an 80-foot embankment. When first responders arrived on the scene, they had to cut out the passenger seat from the rig, get the driver out, then strap the injured man into a litter and hoist him up the embankment. A helicopter flew him to a trauma center for treatment. Responders said the man was conscious, but couldn’t remember how the accident happened. Volunteers from Hometown, Quakake, Tamaqua and McAdoo responded. They said they were able to turn out a complete rescue team quickly, because many of the volunteers were off for the holidays.
