Local Attorney Running for PSU Board of Trustees
A local Attorney who graduated as a Nittany lion back in 1993 has
announced his run for Penn State University’s Board of Trustees…
John Rodgers believes the current board let the school, students and
Alumni down in a time of crisis…
In a news release, Rodgers said “When the Board was first told about the
Grand Jury investigation involving former Defensive Coordinator Jerry
Sandusky, it took no action…Rodgers went on to say that The Board then
totally caved to pressure when it fired Joe Paterno without talking to
him and that the public must hold the Board of Trustees accountable.
Nomination ballots for the Trustees board were mailed to the Alumni
association this week and Rodgers will need 50 nominations to be placed
on the election ballot…
So who is John Rodgers?
The Attorney, husband and father is a well known member of the Greater
Hazleton Community and is with the firm of Caverly, Shea, Phillips and
Rodgers… Was named a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer, Rising Star in both
2005 and 2006.
Rodgers serves as a member of the Executive Committee of the
Wilkes-Barre Law and Library Association and the Board of Directors of
Franklin Security Bank.
Rodgers is also the founder and president of Northeast Revenue Service
which provides municipal and financial advisory Services.
In additon, Rodgers is active in charitable organizations…He serves as
President of the Board of Directors at the Helping Hands Society and is
the organizer of the Annual Christmas Party for the Foster Care Program
at the Catholic Social Services. Pennsylvania Senator Pat Toomey also
appointed Rodgers to the Military Academy Advisory Board.
