Live Wire Accident

Residents of one West Hazleton neighborhood, where an accident took out power, may be powerless for some time. The accident  happened along 15th street, when a vehicle struck a utility pole.  The pole and transformer went crashing into a home, which suffered some structural damage. As the pole went into the home, a live high tension wire was downed in the street.  Police were concerned about people walking on foot through the area, and cornered off  a two block radius. PPL says power could be out to nearly fifty homes in that area until some time during the night. They’re working with the Red Cross to provide shelter for the effected residents.
