Lend a Hand, Save a Life
All it takes is a helping hand. “Lend a Hand, Save a Life” is a new CPR education and training initiative campaign launched by The Department of Health. Michelle Cassic is the Director of Education at General Health Alliance in Hazleton she said the American Heart Association held a campaign similar to this one a couple of years ago. Now, Pennsylvania’s Department of Health has decided to join in on the fight to save lives. According to the Department of Health, sudden cardiac arrest is the leading cause of death among Americans, with 80% of events occurring at home. That’s why this new campaign is so important; It’s saves lives. The Health Department said hands-only CPR has three easy steps: call 911, push hard and fast in the center of the chest, and use an automated external defibrillator or AED. Michelle said an AED machine can be found in more places than you think Some one who doesn’t know how to give CPR correctly can actually do more harm than good. That’s why Michelle said everyone should take an instructional class. The Department of Health and Heart Association agree that increasing familiarity of CPR and the use of an AED in the community can help improve the chances of staying alive.
