Kane Sworn into Office
A woman from our region made Pennsylvania history on Tuesday. Attorney Kathleen Kane of Lackawanna County was sworn in as Pennsylvania’s first woman Attorney General this afternoon at the Capital in Harrisburg. The top prosecutor may make waves in the house as she plans to appoint a special deputy to oversee a review of how the Attorney General’s Office handled the Jerry Sandusky child sexual-abuse investigation. However, Kane said her main priorities really include reducing violent crime across the state and combating public corruption. In her speech, the new Attorney General said her office will be aggressive, efficient and focused on helping keep families safe and the streets clean.
