A Hazle Township man was killed in a terrible accident in Lebanon County
Thursday morning.
40 year old Michael Mrazik was the driver of a tractor trailer that was
hit by an SUV. The Tractor burst into flames trapping Mrazik and his
passenger 53 year old Michael Allen of New York, both were killed. State
police at Jonestown say the SUV crossed lanes and crashed into the
driver’s side fuel tank of a tractor-trailer on state Route 72 in
Swatara Township at 11:30 Thursday morning. The SUV spun and rolled
over. Behind the wheel was reportedly a National Guardsman, 26 year old
Joseph Cummings. He is said to be in critical condition. A concrete
truck following the tractor-trailer struck it from behind, causing the
rig to jack-knife. The concrete truck then rolled over, spilling its
load onto the roadway. 63 year old Melvin Walter was driving that truck
and was OK. Troopers are looking for witnesses of the this tragedy to
come forward. They want to know what caused the SUV to cross into the
path of the Rig. Michael Mrazik was a son, father, brother, cousin,
nephew, grandson, uncle and friend to so many in the Greater Hazleton
Area…Mike will truly be missed…Many prayers going out to tonight to
Mike’s family from everyone at News 13.
