Convenient Store Robbery in Sugarloaf


The convenient store robbery’s continued over the weekend in Greater
Hazleton. Joe’s Choice Conveneient Mart was the Target Sunday afternoon
and this time, the bandit was a woman. Troopers tell us the female
robber told the worker she had a gun and demanded money, getting away
with about 22 bucks and an iced tea but news came early this afternoon,
that the female was caught and cuffed. Lucky for police and unlucky for
the robber, the crime was caught on camera which helped police arrest 27
year old Valerie Weston of Mcadoo. Troopers caught Valerie at her home
and found the hooded sweatshirt worn in the robbery inside her car.
Valerie is said to have robbed the store around 12:15 Sunday afternoon.
We’re told that the female worker initially told Valerie “no” when she
asked for the money but eventually opened the register and Valerie
grabbed the cash from over the counter. News 13 has learned that Valerie
admitted to robbing the store for money for her drug addiciton.
