Accused Freeland Terrorist Arrested
Tuesday night Freeland borough had to cancel their council meeting after a resident made terroristic threats to a borough official.
“Regarding our borough official and his family, and also about the meeting tonight(Tuesday) saying he was going to burn down the town.” said Robert Quinn, Borough Council President Tuesday night.
57-year old Wayne Harding from Freeland was arraigned in front of a judge late Tuesday night for allegedly making threats against Freeland borough leaders. However, this isn’t the first time Harding has had a run in with borough government. Harding was arrested a few weeks ago for threatening the code enforcement officer.
“Really, this all stems from some small code violations,” said Quinn.
Tuesday night’s meeting will be rescheduled. The borough hopes this will not discourage people from coming out to those meetings. In the wake of the deadly shooting in Ross Township, the borough is taking extra precautions. They plan to have security on duty during the next meeting.
Harding’s bail was set at twenty five thousand dollars. He is in the Luzerne County Correctional Facility.
